Acclaimed as one of the premier hammered dulcimer players alive and considered to be a virtuoso of tremendous influence in the revival of the hammered dulcimer, Walt Michael's wide repertoire ranges from old-time Southern Appalachian, to Celtic, to breath-taking original compositions.

Accompanied by the musical virtuosity of Evan Stover, Frank Orsini and Tom Wetmore better known as "& Co.", Walt Michael & Co. move gracefully from folk to Celtic to a cappella gospel & bluegrass music, emphasizing at the same time the mastery of its individual members. As a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Walt has recorded fourteen albums, appeared at the Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, The White House, the Smithsonian and was seen by the largest estimated viewing audience ever of over 900 million when he performed at the Closing Ceremonies of the 13th Winter Olympics on ABC-TV. He has toured extensively throughout the US, Canada, Europe and the UK and his music has been heard on NBC's Tonight Show, Broadway, BBC, TNN, CBC, OLN and PBS. Walt's most recent musical endeavor was as a musical producer, composer and musician for the Outdoor Living Network's 13 episode documentary series Cowboy 101. His various musical incarnations, including Bottle Hill, Michael, McCreesh & Campbell and Walt Michael & Co. have spanned 35 years and taken him from the coal camps of Appalachia to the heathery hills of Scotland. He has touched the hearts of millions with his hammered dulcimer, guitar and voice.
